Thelma L. Woodruff

Thelma has dedicated a large portion of her life to the sport of bowling. When her bowling career started in 1948, she got involved in the women's association right away in keeping the ball rolling for the local women bowlers in Muskegon. She worked her way through the offices until she was named president, a position she held for six years. When she retired from the board of directors in 1992, she was made a life member of the association, "because of her hard work and devotion to the game of bowling and the GMWBA.". In the mid 80's she became involved with the junior bowling program at Northway Lanes. She started out as a coach and today is still with the kids as the treasurer. Over her bowling career she has attended 31 straight WIBC National Tournaments and over 40 Michigan State Tournaments. She did quite well on the lanes also, winning three doubles titles, one singles title and twice won the all-events crown in the local association tournament. Whether on the lanes or off, she has committed a large part of her life to the Muskegon bowling community.
