Jeff McManus
The possession of great eye-hand coordination and muscle memory skills are essential traits of today's successful professional athlete. At age 46, our newest Hall of Fame member is a very gifted athlete with all of these qualities and probably owns the best collection of bowling tournament titles and high scores of any bowler in Muskegon. Jeff McManus has bowled in 22 USBC National Championships (203 average - top 100 nationally), a US Open and owns 21 Muskegon City Titles. (4 in 2007). He won the highest - average award in the city 6 times including his highest of 233 this year. Jeff has shot 16 300 games and 5 800 series. His 847 was the highest in the city in 2005.
Jeff's bowling career started at the age of 8 in the junior leagues at Northway Lanes. It was in those early years that he received coaching from many good bowlers, including Ron Grambau. He claims that watching and emulating other classic league legends such as Bill Liefer and Dick Maus helped to motivate him to become a better bowler.
Presently, Jeff only bowls one league per week but still loves the competition as exhibited by his four titles in this years city tournament. The sociable, friendly right hander claims a lot of his friendships originated in bowling events and jokingly contributed to many of his greatest stories. Welcome to the Hall of Fame, Jeff.
