Clyde McKentry

Smile Clyde! you've made it to the top! From a rather average star in 1961 when he averaged 171, to1981 when he attained his highest average of 204, to 1986 when he rolled his highest series of 772, to 1994 when he reached the ultimate award in bowling by rolling a 300 game (at the age of 67), Clyde was forever smiling.

Probably the finest "Black Bowler" to ever bowl in our association, this gentleman has been a part of many record setting games and series. In 1968 he was on a team that won the first six actual Team Championships in the GMBA annual tournament. The others followed in 1972,74,78,81 and 83. He has also been a member of the Glenn's Motor Sales team rolled a 3308 actual series and a 1200 actual game- the series being the highest ever rolled in the association at that time.

Clyde's other achievements include award scores of 298, rolled May of 1996, and a 299 bowled in September of 1989. In 1992 Clyde and his partner won the class C Senior Doubles championship. In 1997, Clyde was awarded the GMBA's Man -of-the-year award for his long association with the junior program at the AMF Muskegon lanes. He continues to bowl in four leagues with a high average of 201, in 1997, at the age of 70!

You've been a friend to everyone you've ever met through bowling but, after all scores have been forgotten, we'll remember this night that brought a smile to all of your friend's faces as you're welcomed into the Greater Muskegon Bowling Hall of Fame
