Carl K.Krueger

Carl Krueger left an indelible mark in our bowling community and to all who knew him. He was a dedicated servant of bowling for over 60 years, starting in 1914, and was active in league and tournament competition for 36 of those years. During this time he established himself as one of the top performers in the city.

In 1937 he was elected Secretary/Treasurer of the G.M.B.A., and served in this capacity for 39 years. Active in all phases of association work, he was known as a tireless worker and a most dedicated secretary.

For 30 years he actively served on the Michigan State Bowling Association board and in 1970-71, was elected its President. Prior to that he had been a Zone Director for 10 years.

Carl was instrumental in organizing the Michigan State Junior Bowling Association in 1965 and was the secretary of the Greater Muskegon Junior Bowling Association from 1965 to 1976. One of the highlights of his life was Muskegon being the host city for the 1976 State Junior Tournament.

Carl was also one of the hard working committee members who helped start the popular Captain-Sponsor Tournament and was on the committee for 22 years.

His efforts to improve the status of organized bowling and maintain the rigid standards set by the A.B.C., has protected the game, and during his 39 years as secretary, the high principles established throughout his years were passed on to the officers that have followed in his footsteps. This is evidenced by the many awards the Muskegon Association has won from the A.B.C. His efforts helped to place the association as one of the best in the state and the nation.

Carl was most unselfish with his time and efforts and bowling was the recipient of his generosity. He worked with and for bowlers of all ages, including the sponsors of the game. Anyone connected with the sport was in some way, influenced by this man.
